v0.8.0 is here / A little less typing

Your shell.
Your state
of mind.

You spend a lot of time here.
Make it feel like you.

Made in Rust. Runs on Mac, Windows & Linux.

YOUR SHELL, WITH A LITTLE MORE SOUL.

LESS FIDDLING. MORE FEELING.

A small toolkit.
A personal space.

Mood Shell brings color and character to the little line waiting for your next command.

Pick a mood. Tweak the colors. Share what you make. Five palettes, two layouts, and just enough room to make it yours.

Your theme is a Markdown file. Add a little backstory and give someone else a new favorite.

YOU’VE TYPED THIS BEFORE.

A familiar command.
A quiet suggestion.

Start typing in Zsh and a matching command from your history appears in gray. Press Right Arrow at the end of your input to accept it. Enter still runs the command.

Built in from v0.8.0. Update moodsh and open a new terminal. No matching history? No suggestion. Tab still completes commands and files. Bash and PowerShell keep their existing input behavior.

Setup & preferences
KNOW WHERE YOU ARE.

Your directory.
Always in view.

Both layouts show your current directory. Prefer the full path? Use moodsh path --format full, or keep the familiar ~/….

Directory text now uses your terminal’s normal color by default. Prefer the theme’s palette? Opt in:

moodsh path --color theme

Your choice stays with you when you change themes. Press P in the picker to preview it, or use --color theme for palette coloring. Paper suits light terminals; moodsh leaves your background alone.

Path controls
KEEP THE MUSCLE MEMORY.

Less typing.
Same Git.

Miss gst, gco, and glog? Bring 26 familiar Oh My Zsh Git shortcuts along, including gprom to pull and rebase from origin’s main branch. See every command with moodsh shortcuts git.

Add --shortcuts git to your existing init line, then open a new shell. For Zsh:

eval "$(moodsh init zsh --shortcuts git)"

Opt-in on Zsh, Bash, and PowerShell. Your existing commands win; PowerShell keeps built-in names such as gc, gl, and gp. Git is installed separately.

GOOD MOODS ARE CONTAGIOUS.

Made for you.
Better with
everyone.

A tiny corner of the internet for people who care what their terminal feels like. Borrow a palette. Make a remix. Leave something for the next person.

FOUR COLORS. ONE LITTLE FILE.

Share the colors.
Keep the story.

The Rust does the work. Markdown makes it personal. Your theme is an ordinary document you can read, edit, and take anywhere.

# Afterhours

For the ideas that arrive late.

```moodsh
name = "afterhours"
layout = "two-line"
muted = "#908CAA"
Your next prompt
starts here.
Download the binary. Connect your shell.
No Rust installation required.
Download moodsh v0.8.0
Extract the archive. In that folder, run:
mkdir -p "$HOME/.local/bin"
install -m 755 ./moodsh "$HOME/.local/bin/moodsh"
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
Add these lines to ~/.zshrc, then open a new terminal:
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
eval "$(moodsh init zsh)"
Then run moodsh customize. Use one prompt renderer at a time. Full setup guide ↗
macOS builds are unsigned. See the setup guide if macOS blocks the download.
A little clarity: Mood Shell styles your prompt and adds Tab completion, Zsh history suggestions, and optional Git shortcuts. Backgrounds, blinking cursors, and syntax highlighting are separate terminal or shell features.
